A new feature was just added to the NC Account creation process for account security purposes. The error you are seeing is most likely because of the password you are attempting to use. We've done a lot of analyzing common passwords, and our account system will not allow the use of commonly compromised passwords.
The error that is usually displayed in this case is "There was an error creating your account. Please re-enter your account information." This isn't very descriptive, we know, but it usually means it's this password issue.
The intent here is not to cause you trouble, it is hopefully to prevent your account from being hacked by unsavory types. So the password 'password' is not very secure, and we're trying to make sure people choose something that is a bit more difficult to crack.
Your password may meet our password creation rules, but it has been found published online as a 'common' password. Please try again using a strong, unique password.
What are the password creation requirements?
For reference, here are the requirements for your NC Account Password:
- Must be 8 to 16 characters long.
- Must contain letters and at least one number or special character.
- No more than 2 of the same number or letter in a row.
- Must be different from your email address.
