Create a New User Account

Sometimes user accounts can become corrupt and permissions can get messed up and so creating a new user account is a good way to rule this out. To create a new User Account please follow the steps below (Please note, you will want to ensure that you may need to have your User Account Control disabled before performing these steps):

 

Windows Vista:

  1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety, and then clicking User Accounts.
  2. Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  3. Click Create a new account.

  4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

 

Windows 7:

  1. To open User Accounts, click the Start button, click Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click User Accounts.
  2. Click Manage another account. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  3. Click Create a new account.

  4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

 

Windows 8/8.1:

  1. On the Start screen, move the mouse pointer to the lower-right corner to open the Charms menu, then click Settings.
  2. Select Change PC settings in the lower-right corner of the screen.

  3. Select Accounts.

  4. Click Other accounts.

  • Creating a local account
  1. On the Other accounts tab, click Add an account in the right pane.
  2. On the How will this person sign in screen, click Sign in without a Microsoft account link.
  3. Click the Local account button.
  4. In the password field, enter a username for the new account, the password and password hint, and then click Next.
  5. Click Finish.

Sweet! The new account and password should now be active.

  • Creating a Microsoft account
  1. On the Other account tab, click Add an account in the right pane.
  2. On the How will this person sign in screen, type the Microsoft email address into the Email address field, and then click Next.
  3. Click Finish.
